 FERN and SAGE
HypnoBirthing® Classes

Below you will find general descriptions of your class options and what to expect. If you'd like more information, please see my blog post on What is HypnoBirthing or reach out to me directly. I'd love to chat with you!

All HypnoBirthing classes, regardless of whether they are in-person, online, group, or private meet for about 2.5 hours once a week for five weeks. Online classes are open to anyone across the United States and meet via Google Meet; private classes meet online or in the comfort of your own home; and in-person classes meet at Trillium House in Lynchburg, VA. (Please note that if a labor and birth is actively taking place at Trillium House at the time of our class, I will let you know ASAP and we will meet virtually for that class session.)

Most people typically start their class series somewhere between 20 and 34 weeks pregnant.

Fee (includes 2 participants and materials):

- Group Classes: $399

- Private Classes: price varies depending on location. Please get in touch with me if interested, especially if there's not a group class that works for your due date! I'm always willing to work with your individual needs!

Group Classes

Meet other expectant parents and start building your tribe in a group class! Whether you are meeting online or in-person, I guarantee we will all laugh together throughout our five weeks. This is a safe space to meet others going through the same thing and to even build lasting friendships.

Private Classes

You get me all to yourself! I will come to your own home and teach you the complete five-week class. Ask questions along the way, get extra practice on breathing and relaxation techniques. This is a great option if you prefer a more private experience.

Why FERN and SAGE

Fern Leaves

The symbolism of ferns and sage plants has deep roots in our ancestral heritage.

Ferns and their tightly spiraled fiddleheads represent new life, new beginnings, and future generations. You are preparing to welcome a brand new life and to embark on a new beginning for yourself and your family.

Sage is a symbol of strength and wisdom. HypnoBirthing® teaches that women's bodies, minds, and spirits are strong and that she and her baby carry innate wisdom within themselves.

This symbolism is a reminder to me and all birthing families that we should respect our intuitions, honor our bodies, and welcome our new generation into a place of love and warmth.

HypnoBirthing educator Jane Celeste excited to help parents prepare for a relaxed, calm, and positive birth experience

Meet Your Instructor

Hi! I’m Jane Celeste, a mom of two, a former academic but forever art historian, and pregnancy and birth-obsessed!

My journey into HypnoBirthing® began in 2017 when I became pregnant with my first baby. My husband and I were both graduate students in Houston at the time and we knew that we wanted to take advantage of all the options our community had to offer and look beyond just a hospital class for our childbirth education. We found our way to HypnoBirthing and had an amazing experience in the class! My son’s birth went a totally different way than I thought it would (spoiler: we had a planned c-section), but I ended up becoming proof that this method is fantastic for any type of birth. I was able to approach his birth with a sense peace, knowing that I had made the right decisions for us and that I could still give him a warm, loving, and calm introduction to his new world outside of the womb.

Fast forward a doctoral degree, a pandemic, and a new state, and I was pregnant with my daughter. I immediately began my HypnoBirthing practice again and went on to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). In the bleary-eyed haze of those early postpartum weeks, when I was snuggling my two babies and still using many techniques I gained from HypnoBirthing, I realized how much I wanted to share this method with other parents.  My goal as a HypnoBirthing® educator is to give you the tools to make your birth experience calm, gentle, and above all — positive. These techniques put you in the driver seat of your birth, so that you are in control of your responses to anything that may arise during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and even into the rest of your life. I aim for each family to leave these classes feeling like they are a stronger family unit.
